The Phonics Queen

12.8.21 For anyone teaching phonics, I really recommend a facebook group I have just recently discovered by ‘The Phonics Queen’. Natasha Tuite, also known as The Phonics Queen, is a teacher, who has a fantastic knowledge of phonics, which she shares on her group page and she does many videos for YouTube. I tend to agree with her views and she cares about things that I also find important. She is enthusiastic, great to listen to, articulates the information so well and is brave enough to do some fantastic videos. Not only does she share best practice for educators, she goes over new government guidelines, explaining it in a way that is easier to understand and gives her take on it. She definitely earns her right to be called ‘The Phonics Queen’ – take a look and I think you will agree.

August 2021

Hi there, this is my site and blog which I hope to add to each week. You can read the page ‘About Me’ to find out why I decided to set this up. I will write about strategies I have tried each week and about anything else I have learned through my studies. Have a look through the other headings from the Home page as these pages will give you strategies when teaching reading and spelling, useful websites, information about dyslexia and most importantly the Spelling Rules page, which hopefully will explain a lot of those tricky spelling rules :). If you are a colleague or parent of children I work with, please let me know if there is something you would like me to include on this site. If you have just stumbled across this page and don’t know me, you are equally welcome and I hope the information helps in some way. PJ
